at the Climate theatre gets thumbs down from both Ebert and Roper. In fact, Ebert was so nonplussed that he didn't even bother physically moving his thumb; he just said "what the fuck do you think I am giving this afterparty?"

Oh man, back in the day (i'm 27) I used to party like a rock star...still do but to a lesser degree. I was home from college and didn't really know the party scene. My buddy at the time showed me rave scene in all its glory. From popping e to snorting crystal to stay awake...wow...I went from work at an indie movie house to a party in the SF Bay. It was at a place called Home Base, a green-house/nursery by day, raver heaven by night. :) I rolled on e from the time we walked out of the car to the party outside. I remember jumping so high in the air inside one of those inflated jungle gyms...smoking cigs on the abandoned couches outside....waxing poetic with folks for hours. It was right out of that film from 415 productions --GROOVE. The next day we left the rave at 7:30am in time to make the Aids Walk in Golden Gate Park. Yeah, we were socially conscious, dedicated partiers. We did 12kil. walk and crashed for two days....man, we were wiped...what a come down....

So I'm at this rave in January of 1998 in Hartford, CT. It is fucking freezing out. I leave the party at 5 am and lo and behold my car has been towed, with my jacket in it! So, I call the tow company and I can't get it out for a while. The party ends. Luckily...there was an afterparty! My friend Jason and I get a ride in the back of a U-Haul truck to the afterparty. I walk to a payphone and call my mom. She just happens to work for the IRS and at the time would collect money from people who owed BIG, so she has some bad-ass negotiation skills. She calls the tow company and gets them to release my car, and drives from Massachusetts to Hartford to pick us up and take us to my car. I go back into the afterparty and just start dancing my fucking ass off. Why not? Such a great release. My mom arrives (yes, at 9 AM at the afterparty), and we go and get my car. I sleep for one hour on the ride to Mass from CT, and then Drive 3 hours up to Randolph Center, VT to start my second semester at college. Woohoo!!
